The Common Market, Philadelphia PA | Transportation emission study

The study estimates the reduction in Green House Gas (GHG) emissions from food production, transportation, and power generation that can result from the replacement of farm products from outside the region. Four major tasks were identified for analysis: (1) reduction in vehicle emissions due to consolidation of local trucking operations, (2) reduction in vehicle emissions due to replacement of long distance shipping with local trucking operations, (3) reduction in synthetic input use by local farms due to proposed distribution center and (4) use of solar energy collectors to power distribution center's refrigeration and freezer units.
